📌📌📌GAME HAS BEEN UPDATED📌📌📌

The OPTIMIZED VERSION is NOW AVAILABLE for download!
This update brings significant performance improvements, making the game run much more smoothly across a wider range of hardware. The download size has also been considerably reduced. We strongly recommend checking the updated minimum system requirements.
Thank you for your patience and support!

After playing the Demo, I was loking forward to the full game. Unfortunately it is a totally different story, but not too bad. The game plays well, graphics and sounds were great. Maybe just the voiceovers sounded AI and lacked emotion, almost robotic. You can use my voice lol apart from that very creepy jump scares and hope the next few episodes go better. Keep it up! See my playthrough here:

I’m really glad you enjoyed the game!

First of all, there’s something that surprised me a little: I feel like the game ended quite early for you! 😅 There is actually another part of the game — the hotel section, which is Chapter 2. I think the game ended for you after Chapter 1, which shouldn’t have happened. Btw, Game Has been UPDATED TODAY. Many bugs fixed and Performance Optimized.

I also noticed that you thought the story had changed compared to the Demo, or that you may have misunderstood Nyx’s character.

The most important thing is that the story of the game actually hasn’t changed. It’s still the same story, and each Season will continue from the previous one.

The Demo didn’t really have a proper story behind it. It was more like an introduction, where some of the characters were mentioned and John calls Caelan and tells him that he needs to go to the hotel.

The actual story starts with Season 1. Season 1 tells the story of what happened two years ago between Nyx and Caelan.

John is Caelan’s friend and boss, and they work together as paranormal investigators. Nyx had never met either of them before. She contacts them because she believes her house is being surrounded by paranormal creatures and asks them to investigate it.

That’s where the story begins.

So, Nyx is not a ghost or a demon herself. 😄

And about the voiceovers — you’re right, I definitely need to work more on them. They Not AI. But I’m doing everything by myself, so there’s only so much I can do. 😂 I’m handling the programming, modeling, animations, environments, sounds, story, and pretty much everything else in the game. What can you do? 😅

Thank you again for playing and for sharing your playthrough. I really appreciate the feedback!

For what this season was, it was not too shabby!

This series seems reall solid so far! Great story telling so far to boot! Had me hooked for sure.
The whole ghost hunting mechanic was actually well done. Using the EMF seemed pretty easy, and switching over to the spiritbox once at the hotspot and trying to talk to the ghost. This game did a great job at capturing it for sure!
The only problem I ran into was performance. In the first stage where we are trying to bless the house, the games performance seemed to be rough. I disabled V-Sync and that improved it by a lot but I still felt a mouse delay even if the frame rate was improved. All this resolved itself once I completed the level and went onto the hotel section.
I see there are steps to fixing this, by deleting a options file forcing a reset. But a game should not require this, especially when freshly downloaded. A lot of people do not particularly like messing with game files and like to run with the game as is. From the fear of breaking something. I personally ran the game as is from download. From my knowledge of having played 2000+ games over the span of almost half a decade, the first level has some iffy optimization. The game may be rendering areas the player cant see, and may be rendering the whole outside which we really dont get to see much of aside from the front lawn where we are walking up. I would try to pinpoint the exact problem in that specific stage and try to mitigate or fully resolve the problem. As having the player needing to do something with the game files to have the game function better is a bit of a turn off.
Overall though, this series seems really promising! Only issue I had was performance. Made a video on it.

My specs are as follows. What the game was ran on:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x 8-Core Processor.

GPU: RX 6600
RAM: 32 GB 3200MHZ.
Main storage which game was ran on: 1TB WD BLACK SSD.
Motherboard: TUF Gaming B450M Plus 2
Power supply: 800 Watts

Thank you so much for taking the time to play the game and write such a detailed review! I’m really glad you enjoyed the experience!

And yes! This is only the beginning. The story will progress much further in the upcoming seasons, and I think some of the things that happen later will genuinely surprise you!

Regarding the performance issue, I have to say... it seems like you’re right! 😅

What surprises me is that I tested the game on a weaker PC than yours, and in Chapter 1 my lowest FPS was around 30. It never went below 30 for me.

However, it seems there is definitely something going on, so I’ll have to investigate it more carefully. My current suspicion is the lighting. The occlusion culling system is properly implemented in the scene, so I don’t think that is the main issue. The house itself is also quite detailed, and the lighting in that area is fairly heavy.

I’ll most likely need to redo the lighting and sacrifice a little bit of visual quality to improve the performance.

I’ll work on fixing this issue soon, and there will be no need to delete or modify any game files. I’ll also re-upload the fixed version once everything is sorted out.

Thank you again for your feedback and for bringing this to my attention! I really appreciate it!

Unfortunately, it’s not really playable with an Intel i7-10700 CPU, 16GB RAM, and an RTX 2060. I turned down all the settings as much as I could. Standing still gives me 60 FPS, but as soon as I start walking, the frames drop and fluctuate between 25–45 or lower. My PC just isn't enough for it, unfortunately. Too bad.

This seems very unusual. I tested the game myself on an i5-3570K, 16GB RAM, and an RX 580 8GB, and my lowest FPS was around 30 FPS, no matter walking or standing. In hotel it could reach 100 FPS.

So, You said "I turned down all the settings as much as I could." And, maybe you change Vsync settings in a bad way.

First of all, Close the game. Go to "S_O_S_SeasonOne_Data > Data > Config. Then, DELETE the file named "GameOptions.json". (GET A BACKUP FIRST, THEN DELETE.) Then launch the game again. It will reset your settings.

Because you're getting around 60 FPS while standing still but dropping to 25–45 FPS as soon as you start walking, I don't think we should immediately assume that the hardware isn't powerful enough. This kind of behavior can also be caused by settings or something being triggered while the player is moving.

Could you please check the following:

  • VSync: Make sure it is configured correctly. VSync can sometimes cause large FPS drops when the framerate falls below the monitor's refresh rate.
  • Render Scale: Make sure the Render Scale isn't set higher than 1.
  • Resolution: Make sure the game is running at your monitor's native resolution and that there isn't any unnecessary resolution scaling.
  • Smooth Looking settings: Please check the settings related to Smooth Looking and try disabling them temporarily to see if it changes the performance.
  • Monitor refresh rate: Check your monitor's actual refresh rate in Windows and make sure the same refresh rate is selected in the game.
  • Shadows: Try lowering the shadow distance temporarily. Shadows can be particularly demanding in this game.
  • I just want to rule out a configuration or game-system issue first, because an i7-10700 + RTX 2060 + 16GB RAM should be significantly more capable than the hardware I used for testing.
